School Sport Partnerships

The driver of the PE and Sport Strategy has been the creation of a network of 450 School Sport Partnerships (SSPs). These are families of schools that come together to enhance sporting opportunities for all. The partnerships are usually made up of a Sports College, eight secondary schools and around 45 primary or special schools clustered around the secondary school and the College. Every maintained school in England is included.

February 2010 - 'The PE and Sport Strategy for Young People: A Guide to Delivering the Five Hour Offer' has recently been published.

This document describes how central government is working to deliver a sustainable legacy for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games through giving every young person (aged 5 to 16 years) in England access to five hours a week of high quality PE and sport (three hours for 16 to 19 year olds).
